    Superheater is a part of a boiler that heats the steam from the saturation temperature to the overheating temperature. It is also called a steam superheater.Superheater can be divided into convective type, radial type and semi-radial type according to heat transfer mode;According to the characteristics of the structure, it can be divided into serpentine pipe type, screen type, wall type and wall type.They are made up of parallel pipes and inlet and outlet manifold.


    Superheaters in large capacity boilers are of both convective and radiant type.


    The convective type superheaters are placed in the second pass of the boiler, and these are also called low temperature super heaters. Generally about a 40 to 60 degree centigrade temperature pick up takes place on the steam side in this superheater.


    The steam from this moves to a radiant type superheater called the panel or platen superheater, and about a 70 to 100 degree centigrade pickup take place there.


    This is followed by the final superheater, and the remaining required temperature is picked up here. One has to understand that the designer can vary the pickup pattern depending upon his way of practice or requirement.


    But in all the methods adopted, the final temperature must be within a narrow range generally plus / minus five degrees centigrade. The superheaters are so surfaced that, for the design fuel of the boiler, there will not be any desuperheating requirement.

    Superheaters and reheaters are important parts for the heating surfaces, used to increase steam temperature, aiming to improve steam enthalpy and further to increase the thermal circulation efficiency for power station.


    Superheaters work to heat surnatured steam to superheated steam with a certain tempetature. When boiler loads or other working conditions change, it is necessary to make sure superheated steam temperature to be normal, and within allowable range of temperature variation.


    From the thermal circulation in power station, the original parameters of pressure and temperature is higher, the thermal efficiency of circulation is better, or the steam humidity of the steam turbine rear is too high, influencing its safety. While the superheaer steam temperature is limited by metal materials, at present, due to limitation of metal materials, superheated temperature for most power station boilers are still within the range of 540-555 dgrees, and to avoid the steam humidity of blade of steam turbine rear too big, thus middle reheating system is applied.
